Background
A New Zealand Government agency sought to improve the security and safety of those who work in and visit its facilities around the country.
Challenges and solutions
Mann & Associates’ task was to conduct a risk assessment of each location and provide readily interpretable results from which an action plan could be developed.
One key challenge was that, although the facilities vary greatly in size, layout and location, all required the same high level of security. To ensure that risk was being measured consistently across all facilities, we provided a digital tool capable of quantifying the risk assessment, providing each facility with a score, and highlighting areas for improvement. This quantitative survey ensured consistent results readily capable of being measured and compared.
So that the agency’s Senior Management Team could clearly interpret the results and see what needed doing and where, we produced an easy-to-read dashboard displaying the results for each facility. Armed with that knowledge, the team could quickly arrive at evidence-based decisions on the priorities for improvement for each facility.
Through this combination of sensitivity, ingenuity and attention to detail, we navigated the year-long process to secure executive approval, while still delivering the project on time and under budget.
